BETA is an interactive web EP by DUTCH GRAMOPHONE.

elements of the music and visuals are prearranged and fixed, others are generative, randomized, and responsive. these tracks are only realized together with the user. they will be different every time.

this album experiments with transferring control from the composer/producer to the listener/player in order to create an engaging and personal experience. it is a challenge to listen actively, to explore, and to create something new with each play.

the techniques, technologies and music are still very much in beta. it will not work on all computers and browsers. for now, this EP is CHROME-ONLY because of CHROME's support of the key technologies that make this kind of music possible.

BETA is open both in its musical possibilities and the technologies that create them. this work is derived from many other's sounds, ideas, and code which are distributed freely and open-source, so in return, BETA is also free and open-source. the music is in the creative commons and the source code is human-readable javascript.
